The Student High School Exchange Program

This program is a category of the U.S. Department of State’s Exchange Visitor Program, brings foreign high school students to the United States for up to one year of academic study at an accredited public or private secondary school. During their stay, participants live with American host families. The High School Exchange Program is intended to provide participants with broad exposure to U.S. culture and society, and to foster greater appreciation among Americans of the participants’ home countries. Specifically, the high school program is designed to allow students to become directly involved in the daily life of the people of the United States through study and host family living, and has a consistent record of success in fostering attitudinal change, building lifelong relationships, and encouraging leadership aspirations. A year or semester away can't be measured in days alone.You'll only be gone for a school year but the experience will enrich the rest of your life.Living in another country for a year is something most people have never the opportunity to do.You'll return with new knowledge , cultural understanding ,maturity and lifelong friends from your host country.The hardes part will be leaving your host family.They will shared in your adventure and learned from you , as you will have from them. Your host family does not receive a fee or reimbursement for expenses.Your host family will provide your meals and lodging, all they ask for return is that you participate as a responsible member of the family , assuming your fair share of chores around the house and sharing in family activities. You are fully covered in the event of an illness, property loss or other emergency because all ASSE programs include comprehensive health, travel and liability insurance.
