The Form DS-2019 or "Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) Status" is the basic document used in the administration of the exchange visitor program.

This form permits a prospective exchange visitor to seek an interview at a U.S. embassy or consulatein order to obtain a J visa to enter the United States.
The form DS-2019 contains your personal data ( name , date of birth , citizenship ) , the company sponsors the program , your unique ID SEVIS ID number , and the dates that determine the period in which you can work in the United States .

It will be attached to your documents for visa application and signed and stamped by the person who have been interviewing you .

After the expiration of your DS-2019 you have a right to 30 days tourist stay.
