Државниот Департмант на САД им забранува на студентите кои учествуваат во програмата Work and Travel да работат за следните компании на следните позиции: - Pedi cab companies or rolling chair drivers or operators;
- Drivers or operators of vehicles for which a driver’s license is required;
- Traveling fairs or concessions;
- Placement in pool management companies;
- Placement in grocery stores (Trader Joe’s, Albertson’s, etc.)
- Staffing companies;
- Laundry companies;
- Housekeeping as Part of Housekeeping Service Company;
- Housekeeping in Private Home or Office;
- Cleaning service;
- Construction, Manufacturing, or Jobs in warehouses;
- Positions involving gambling or gaming; Casino worker;
- Positions requiring overnight hours (more than 4 hours between 10pm – 6am); Night auditor;
- Cruise ships;
- Bartender;
- Security Guard;
- Maintenance;
- Domestic employers (Landscape/Gardening work, Childcare, Elder care, Chauffeur, Manicure, etc.);
- Companies that offer commission-based pay, such as mall kiosks;
- Companies without a retail site or separate business address from individual’s home address;
- Door to door sales positions;
- Catalogue/online order distribution centers;
- Medical/nursing/veterinary fields;
- Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing, Hunting, Mining, Quarrying, Oil & Gas Extraction;
- Chemical pest control positions;
- Positions operating power-driven machines, including meat slicers, meat patty forming machines, meat and bone cutting saws, poultry scissors or shears, or other machinery included in the Department of Labor's Hazardous Occupations for Minors SubPart E;
- Positions that require sustained physical contact with other people and/or adherence to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Universal Blood and Body Fluid Precautions guidelines (body piercing, tattooing, massage, manicure);
- Adult entertainment (escort services, adult book/video stores, strip clubs);
- Positions for which there is another J program category (camp counselor, intern, trainee);
- In any other position that could bring notoriety or disrepute to the J-1 Summer Work/Travel program
- Any position which is not seasonal or temporary as defined by the US Department of State;
- Positions that do not allow students to work alongside English-speaking American citizens;
- Positions in commercial laundries;
- Positions in moving companies or any jobs which require heavy lifting;
- Construction work or jobs involving the use of power tools (carpentry, roofing, plumbing, electrical, etc.);
- Positions that require significant repetitive motion (factory work, assembly line work, etc.);
- Any position requiring the student to become an “independent contractor”;
- Street performers.
